I had a customer today telling me she has a female Jack Russell that one of these days she may get spayed....so I started giving her the run down of what could happen if she doesn't....so now she is going to make an appt. & get it done....she took my low price vet's name, number, & addy today.....so I changed one person today....hopefully, lol.

Just wanted to say: breeders care a LOT about their dogs, but you can't spay show dogs. Betty was a show dog, and went to be bred and came back with a pyro. So sometimes it's not always about bad owners. Knowing the symptoms is a good thing though! Bettys only symptom was eye discharge and lethargy.

All my fur kids have been fixed. It's sad that some don't care of what risks it cost the dog...as long as they line their pockets with cash. I will past this info. on as well. So true And thank you for passing it on, hopefully we can change a few peoples minds! You are right, it's one dog/cat at a time I will bend over backwards to get animals spayed, don't do as much as I used to but whatever I can. I have some wonderful friends in rescue, I just have to ring them and they'll book a cat/dog in to be spayed. It all helps I guess ...

I have witnessed the awful pyro but in a beloved horse which if far more rare than with dogs. She came back from the stud and a couple of days later I went to bring her in from the field and noticed her whole tail was caked and covered in stinking pus which was revolting and I will never ever forget the smell. My vet told me had she been a dog she would already have been dead but horses can live with it for longer.

A friend of mine would not spay her bitch, not a breeder, her girl developed pyometra and died. She never castrated her dog either and he died from testicular cancer ... beggars belief. She has spayed her current girls, so at least that is something.
