She and Ruby are so much alike body-wise!
The same is true for us with BOTH girls as with Izzie. The day we took Hope home she was the same size as the remaining litter mates. When we went back for 16 week shots, the smallest in size to her was 3/4 lb. larger than she. Her parents were 6 and 7 lbs.
Ruby was barely smaller than her two litter mates at 14 weeks. An ounce or two really. The breeder was worried about her because you could feel and see her spine and hip bones. I promised to fatten her up. Not gonna happen because her frame is just tiny. You can still see her spine. Breeder told us that one of her remaining litter mates was still available and asked if we wanted her. I said no but asked what she weighed. She was a full lb. bigger than Ruby and it was just a few weeks later.
Weighed them yesterday at the vet up the street where I just go for nail trims and Ruby was between 3.5 and 3.6. I think she is about a month older than your girls. Right? She is FAR healthier than Hope. I think Izzie is just dainty!

I wouldn't be concerned at all. I'm not sure why your vet is concerned really. As others have said, birth weight doesn't have much to do with adult size. She is healthy and that is all that matters. Don't worry about it.

It sounds like your vet saw the girls together, presumed she was the runt and started rolling off everything the runt of the litter could possibly have

Ha maybe. She was concerned about Hydrocephalus cuz Izzie still has a soft spot. But ppl that aren't familiar with the breed don't realize that a lot of Chi's have soft spots. Izzie has no signs of Hydro OR a Liver shunt.. so yeah.
Yeah Karen, the girls were born 11-20-10.

Codi, Goose is 3.5lbs (give or take) and he has a GIANT soft spot (will likely never close). He's just fine. He's super tiny, but instead of being tiny and leggy, he's tiny and just ... well, tiny.

Jeeez I'd love to know what your vet would make of Lotus LoL her molera has only just started to shrink as her heads developing. Big ol chi heads tend to have open moleras (although their trying to mKr it a disqualification idiots) lotus' will close I think but not til she stops maturing probably around two years if age.
Maybe explain to your vet your dogs are puppies and like other breeds won't stop developing until at least 18 months

Bryco's Molera was the ENTIRE top of his head when I got him, it was huge until about 1, I had to be so careful with him. It was about the size of a snapple lid lol...about 1.5" in all directions. Its still not completely closed. Oakley has one the size of a dime still at 2+ years old. Leah has one about the size of a quarter at close to 8 months old. Ivy's I think will close all the way over, its about half the size of a dime and no longer round at 8 mo of age. That said, MANY vets do not realize that the molera can save a chi's life if it hits its head, b'c the swelling has somewhere to go, rather than to compress the brain (scary!). I would prefer to always have a small one about the size of a dime or so on a smaller chi for that reason. Trigger is my only dog without one, his was closed over at 8 weeks of age lmbo.

Izzie's is SMALL. It used to be about the size of a dime, but it has shrunk quite a bit. About the size of a pencil eraser or a lil smaller..? Pretty small already! lol.
