What a nightmare experience we just had at a so called groomer nearby
All we wanted was the dogs nails trimmed.
First of all when we pulled up (it was at her house in a rather posh area) a neighbour came out and asked if we were expected.
I think she was looking down on us for the way we look, Jamie has long hair, he is a rocker and i will always look like a goth type. lol
Anyway, we felt like she was thinking we were casing the joint.
Yeah right with 3 chihuahua in tow eh!
There was a sign on the front door that said not to knock or ring the bell cause of dogs, so we had to call the number to say we were outside.
I told the busy body outside about that and said yes we are expected.
She just walked back into her house after that.
When we finally got an answer the woman wasnt in cause she also walks dogs and was taking some home.
So we went for a drive till she was back.
She seemed a snooty cow too so first impressions were not good and i should i have just left, but we went in with her since we were there.
Anyhow, Jamie asked how long she had been doing this and she said she mainly walks dogs but just passed her grooming tests in January this year.
So she put Darla on the table and put a black choke leash on her that was hanging from above.
I held her anyhow as she was useless at keeping her still.
Darla never makes a peep she is so good.
Alarm bells should have rung when she said oh these are such tiny paws, and i hate the black nails.
Oh and halfway through she says, i need to go get my specs! WTF!! if you cant see you should be wearing the feckers!!!
So Darla is done without any drama anyhow, or so we thought.
Next is Daisy, who is a mad wriggler.
A few times she made her yelp, and she has the cheek to say maybe it's best you arent here, em no danger doll!
She put her in a belly sling that was far too big, aswell as that choke leash from above, Daisy got out of the sling obviously, and if i hadnt been holding her would have been dangling by her neck off the table!!
I noticed blood on the table and my hand, and we then realised that she had cut Darla, not only at the quick of the nail on her back paw but also the pad too!
She tried to say the nail must have been that long it was curled into her paw and so when she cut it, it must have made a wee hole.
I said no the nails were not into the pads on any of the dogs.
I went to a groomer in Glasgow regularly.
When it came to Dillon we said his are not that bad cause we didnt want him traumatised too, but we let her take the very ends off, and couldnt wait to get out of there!
She even asked what my groomer charged in Glasgow as if she didnt have a price set up.
Anyway i said we will prob take Darla up to the nurse at our vets to take a look at her pad and she said, oh she shouldnt need that i put the powder on. ha!
I asked if it's safe to lick the powder as Darla was covered in it, and she says oh i dont know, have never been asked that, i will ask my tutor for next time.
Next time my Arse!!!!
So we did take Darla into the nurse and she said the pad was only nicked slightly, but if it gets swollen to bring her back in, and not to let her lick it.
It bled for a good while after, but has stopped now.
In future we will just take them to the nurse as they do it for only a little more than my old groomer.
We just thought we would need an appointment for the vet to do it so i looked for a local groomer.
The girl in Glasgow was so good with them and was also nice to them too, not that loon! who was clearly a total newbie and stressed out before she even started, which would only have made the dogs worse when they picked up on that.
I said as we were leaving to Jamie, we will not be back here, and she was right by the car to get into her van. not that i give a monkeys!
I think she should stick to the dog walking and pet boarding, as she is clearly not ready to do any grooming, well at least not nails.
Plus she is only confident with big dogs with white nails too!
I just hope this experience hasnt put the dogs off having it done again now.
I have tried in the past to do it myself but it was a no go plus i cant do black nails, and i would rather pay someone to do it right anyway.
So that was fun! NOT!
