I lost a chi, Annabelle, to CHF a couple years ago, and I have decided its time to bring another one into our home. I really miss the cuddles. I am not officially looking till the kids are back in school in September. Maybe even longer. No rush.
I had Annabelle, a chocolate chi that died at the age of 7 of chf, and Tobie, a mixed chi terrier that got out on accident, and was hit by a car. We also had for a short time after annabelle, and adult chi named Chloe, that hated my husband so bad, and was so afraid of movement by people, that we placed her in a calmer home, with a single retired mommy.
Currently I am a sahm to 3 kids, and a shih tzu, Theo. My kids, dh and I are excited about getting another one in the near future.

Maybe its better if I talk about the dogs themselves. Tobie was a fawn colored chi/terrier mix. He loved to run and shred paper. Shredding paper was almos an obsession with him. He actually loved his coat, it was red with some stripes. He was great about sleeping in his crate, and would go there whenever you told him to go lay down. His second favorite past time was to be cuddled under a blanket. My oldest dd was a toddler when I brought him home. Shes 14 now.
Annabelle was a chocolate chihuahua that was super sweet. When I brought her home, I had a daycare and that was probably the most socialized chi that could exist. Her favorite past time was to ride in the front pocket of my coat, but eventually she outgrew the . She always tried. When I sat down she would crawl in head first, and her butt and back legs would hang out and she would sleep. She was very dainty and hated wind. She was quite sure she was the boss of the house and especially the couch. Sometimes I had to remind her that I owned the couch not her. I really miss her.
Last weekend we went camping in the first time in years, and I cant stop thinking about her since. I am pretty sure this was our first trip without her. She loved camping, because of all the extra attention she had. Noone wanted her to get cold, and chis always seem that way even if they are not. Even my dad and brothers would tuck her down in his shirt. You would just see this tiny little nose sticking out. On our last camping trip, I wore her in a baby front pack, becuse she was getting sicker and would not tolerate the extra cold and activity well.
I adopted Chloe as an adult. She was a blue chi. I had her about a year, but that year was tough on our family, and she needed so much more than I could give. She came to us with a real fear of men and kids (I have 3.) , and had recently rucuperated from a broken leg. When I heard a friend was looking for a friend, she was perfect for chloe, and they are both happy still.
So you see it is a happy ending, I have lots of memories with my chihuahuas and really love the breed.

So sorry about your Chihuahua annabelle, I too lost one to congestive heart failure, she was only 10 years old, I thought that was young. It's a problem in some lines in the UK I hope you find that very special Chihuahua to fill the little Chi sized place in your heart x

Sorry to hear about Tobie and Annabelle, so tragic that they both died young. It is terrible that Anabell suffered with a heart problem, it is such a shame that our breed is prone to some terrible ilnesses. I hope that a new puppy can bring you some more hapiness again.
