Ive read with great interest on this site about the feeding articles on raw and different brands of kibble. I was feeding RC but feel ive learnt enough from some of you experts out there and have now changed to Origen. But the more I read about raw the more it makes sence and I love the idea of a natural diet so ive now bought ZP aswell. Is it ok to combine the Ziwi with the Origen or should I give them the 12 hour break between the two? Also can anyone advise me on a premade raw diet with or without ZP as I'm very interested in going that way next as a total raw diet seems a bit complicated to me just at the moment.

I've moved your post so it has its own thread so that your question doesn't get lost So exciting that you've decided to switch! You'll get lots of help from here. As far as I'm aware, your best bet would be to feed them a few hours apart as they will take different times to digest and therefore might cause an upset tummy. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong I'm in the UK so can't advise on pre-made raw, however I know quite a few of our members feed Stella and Chewy's pre-made. This would be MUCH better than Orijen (even though it is a high quality kibble). You want to look for a pre-made that doesn't contain any veggies. Also, stay away from Nature's Variety as I have read that it contains charcoal, which is quite scary! Depending on where you live, it might just be cheaper to go straight on to a prey model raw diet. I know it can be daunting but it really is very straight forward and Tracy has posted a fantastic thread on getting start with raw

Thankyou for that. Ive just seen the link for 'Raw to go' I like the idea of the 'minced' raw meats and organs rather than in their original form but any ideas on what combinations would suit most Chi's best ? and do you feed it twice a day?

Oops! Sorry, for some reason I thought you were in the US lol! Yes I do a mixture of raw to go and fresh cut meats. I've found that certain mixes from raw to go are quite bone heavy (duck and chicken) which meat my pup was straining for a poo (the other three were fine but jjst shows each dog is different!) but I'd say these are probably best of you're starting out to avoid the squirts haha. Also, I would advise if you do go for raw to go that you add in your own liver, as I found out, after several emails and phone calls, that they don't include as much as liver as is needed for a balanced diet. But we can always help with adding in things like that!

'I wish' ive always had this thing about wanting to live in America! on a ranch would be my ideal, I can but dream lol. I did notice that at 'Raw to go' that they also do some 'staights' as well as the 'minced' maybe I should go for those instead? Also is tripe a good one to add? thankyou

Tripe is good for now and again but can give them loose stools and also is what I've been using to add some weight onto my dogs. What 'straights' do you mean? If you mean they're just meat then you will need to add in the bone and organ yourself
