Wow, what a problem. That would DRIVE ME CRAZY! What if you left him loose in the dog room where everyone else is crated? Do you think he'd eventually lie down and go to sleep? Maybe he just hates the crate? Tried an ex-pen instead of a crate? Tried covering his crate with a blanket so he can't see out? I kinda hate to mention this, but he is why bark softening was invented.

LOL Tracy...bark softening sounds appealing in this situation!!
I agree with the seeing how he'd do in an xpen or dog room w/o being crated. Shasta is crazy with her yowling but not all night (if it is, I can't hear it being upstairs on the other side of the house LOL) and Evie...I'm about going *almost* as mental with cleaning up a shitty mess every morning as she poops & tramples through it allll night long-even if she's pooped just before bed.
I would resort to ear plugs if you really can't find anything that works. What about using a crate that is petitioned with a "friend" just on the other side? Then they can't fight but he still has company? He really sounds like he hates the crate though...especially with the chewing of the bars & all. I'd try the xpen idea if you haven't already or *sigh* maybe sleeping with you? Or would that not fly either? I know it sort of defeats the purpose all together but maybe you'd then get a good nights sleep? That's why Mari sleeps with us typically..otherwise I get woken up by her chorus of howling as she gets everyone going. Again...it defeats the purpose but it gets to the point of...sleep really is that important!! LOL

Does he like chewing?? Maybe giving him a super stinky chew. What about those plug in things that relax them or walking him loads before bed so he's knackered I honestly think something's up, that's not normal

They have a DAP plug in in their room already lol, I always keep it loaded.
Honestly, you guys know me. I have tried everything...even leaving him loose! It is driving me INSANE...
I have NEVER had one keep this up when the behavior is ignored lol. I am going mad. Hubby isn't too pleased about it either. And it's like you can tell what he is saying...
"HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! LET ME OUTTA HERE! FUCKERS I WANT TO PLAY! HOW DARE YOU!? HOW DARE YOU!?" and it goes on and on and on and on lol.
The only thing I haven't tried is one of those citronella collars mainly b'c the one I have is too big and I think it is the smallest size available.
I mean its RIDICULOUS.
Sarah he has like 3 kinds of chewies in there and he does chew on them, but I guess it only keeps him busy for so long. In the 4 months I have had him I have only ever seen him asleep once. Not even remotely exaggerating. Rightnow he is running around pouncing on the other dogs that ARE sleeping and pissing them off.

The funny thing is when he's up during the day he pretty much doesn't bark. But we did try just leaving him loose in the house one night because he's good with the potty pad and stuff, and he still pulled the same thing.

I have given consideration to getting his bark softened...the problem being I somehow have to keep his yapper shut for a week in order for it to be somewhat effective!

What about a greyhound muzzle? ha ha. I don't think they make them that little. He looks so relaxed with Bryco. Could you crate them together? Maybe with a partition in between? I think he's just a pre adolescent boy and he's feeling his oats. He is high energy and he just wants to play. He's just hyper. Brody is sort of the same way. Not with the barking, etc. but I used to NEVER see him sleep. He'd nap when I wasn't looking, but if I was walking around he was right there saying "hey watcha doin? Wanna play ball? Hey do ya? Come on!" ha ha. It got tiring. But at least he would sleep at night. Now he's 3.5 and he sleeps a lot more and is a lot more relaxed. But he's still up for playing anytime you are ready. I think Hero may just be really hyper and ADHD right now and that he'll outgrow it. Is it cool there? The only thing I can think of is to put him in a crate, cover it up, and put it in your car in the garage. That will muffle the sound of him barking and eventually he will learn to fall asleep on his own and YOU guys can get some much needed sleep!

Having one of his crazy relatives...I can relate to the crazy hyper playing 24/7 which is why I am SURE Evie poops & tramples through it allllllll niiiiiiight loooooong. Thats her way of rebelling while Hero's is just hollering at you guys! Some dogs are just. Crazy hyper!
Good idea about the car Tracy... would that work Kristi?? And no go on sleeping with you? Or would he just want to play & pounce on you all night long? LOL
