Well...I couldn't hear him SOOOO yay! Not sure how I feel about it for a long term solution plus weather probably will only work for it for awhile? I am trying to find a smaller citronella collar... It may be a good short term solution. I would think that after a week or two of sleeping in his crate by himself, he will learn to accept it. Then you can gradually move him back in with the other dogs. This may just be a phase he has to get past.

yeah lets hope it will help to break his naughty habit ! lol good luck x ....... If the citronella is a no go my friend once years ago had a remote shock coller for her jack russel who by all accounts was a right old bastard of a barker and barked solid at everything this is going back a few years ago now not sure if there legal now ! but from memory it did help alot as she controlled it ! a bit hard core i know and not for the faint hearted ;-(

Yeah I would prob not go with a shock collar, he is only a bit over 4 lbs. I think they are relatively ok for bigger sturdier dogs but he is too small IMO...I'd much rather get his bark softened than use a shock collar of any sort on him, seems much more humane lol. We will see though...
Tracy - ya know, I would think that this is a phase he would get over but I can't honestly say I am sure he will at this point! I mean this has been going on for 3 months now. I have changed little to nothing, in hopes that consistency would teach him you're sleeping here and screaming will NOT let you get out. I also do not let him out in the AM if he is screaming when I let everyone else out; he gets to wait until he is quiet and he must be quiet until he is out of his crate or he doesn't get out. Somehow, he still doesn't get it though and screams and screams for hours each morning before I go get them up. It usually only takes him 10 minutes to be quiet once I have let everyone else out and that time period is getting shorter, but I do make him wait.
Its chaos in the morning anyway when I let everyone up, LOL, I don't need one screaming and telling me what to do...brat!

All puppies and dogs have a strong sense of smell. So just by being near you, the puppy feels much more safe and secure. So, placing the puppy next to your bed (while in it's kennel) will sometimes work great for getting your puppy to stop whining. Personally, I love having my pups in bed with me.
