Where does everyone buy their HW medications? The vet? An online pet pharmacy like 1800petmeds.com? Somewhere else? I have always ordered from an online pharmacy as its like 1/2 the price. We recently switched to a new vet and they will only write you a prescription, not just confirm it over the phone! So I have to actually mail in the physical prescriptions, as they can't be faxed...which means it will take 2+ weeks for them to get here They say they won't work w/ online pharmacies directly because ?? they didn't really say, its just against their policy, and they also said that HW meds purchased from online pharmacies are not guaranteed so if your pet gets HW you are SOL. I had never heard that before and kinda feel its BS?

I buy from the vet. If you take in a printout of one of the online pharmacies with you, they will often match the price. You could try that.

yeah lungworm is similar to heartworm, i buy advocate from the vet only because the vets charge to write a prescription which by the time you pay for that and buy from a website it works out much the same price :S

They wouldn't, that's what I did, and they were like...uh...no. It was 2x as expensive there, and for 5 dogs that's quite expensive, like $400! I get them from 1800petmeds which I consider a trustworthy source I guess.

LOL this is when I envy people with only 1 or 2 chis I don't feel like there is anything compromised about the HW meds from the 1800petmeds site, and I don't like the brand the vet carries, ... plus I don't wanna shell out $400 for it either when I can get it for $200.

I have no idea lol...cuz I've never even heard of lungworm so I guess we don't have it here, or it isn't prevalent? Advocate is like a flea/tick remedy here, I don't treat for fleas/ticks though, it isn't common where we live. SO I hedge my bets and don't do preventatives. Actually the vets don't even recommend it or carry stuff in stock, ... guess we are lucky on that one!
