Yeah, thats' the one. I use the little sandpaper wheel. I've used it for a couple years and it hasn't even worn out yet. It's just a matter of getting them used to it. Don't rush. Maybe just do one or two nails (just touch it to them) and then stop and reward. The key is not to stop if they fuss. That just teaches them to throw a holy terror fit to get what they want! If Brody fusses, I just keep hold of his leg and 'ignore' him until he settles down. Then I say "are you done now?" and finish up. ha. He knows not to struggle anymore. He doesnt' LIKE it, but he tolerates it. That's good enough.
I also do all his nails once a week. That way they don't get long and it's just literally 1-2 seconds per nail and you are done. It's not a big ordeal that way. It literally takes less than a minute to do all his nails.

I think with Lion I will try touching his nails when the grinder is off, then turning it on around him, then gradually grinding his nails. Hopefully he won't throw a tantrum.

I have that same one too. It's great. Pip was terrified of it at first, but he tolerates it quite well now, as does Roo. Good luck!

I have the same grinder and love it It isn't powerful enough for a big dog really (we've tried it on Hippo and it just takes too long), but its perfect for the chis. I do mine about every 1.5 weeks and the little sanding drum needs to be changed out about once a year it seems. I absolutely couldn't ever go back to clipping, I love nice neat short little nails! Let us know what you think of it. Louise I'm sure there is something similar in the UK? type in rotary tool in Amazon and see what comes up
