I have heard of the bird seed or rice snugglers that people make that you heat up in the microwave. Maybe someone on ebay or etsy makes them? That would be like a beanbag and really cuddle if it heated up evenly. I've never used one so I don't know.

I have that heat pad too. It does last a good while but no sure if it lasts 12 hours though. It was good for when each of them had their ops, i put it under a blanket in the crate and they loved it. I also tried a pillow filled with rice i got from the petshop but i nuked it once by accident and OMG the stink in my kitchen!!!! I had burned it and had to toss it in the bin. lol

Wish I could find something that wasn't electric that had long lasting heat - an hour wouldn't be long enough really to be worthwhile. This one seems to be the best, just wish it wasn't like a brick. Oh no! lol. I can imagine that would have really been smelly. I like the rice ones, just wish they lasted longer. They also make everything smell like food. haha.

I used one for Bryco when he was a puppy Paula, it worked out pretty well The bottom of a crate is hard anyway, ... just put lots of blankets on it, trust me the heat still comes through. That's what I did for him, ... poor guy couldn't regulate his own body heat til he was older:( I found it stayed hot for 6-7 hours, nowhere near 12. I still use it at night sometimes for me for MY feet, because I don't have the greatest circulation. It is great and still warm in the morning. I've used the rice or birdseed things and they aren't good for much except a temp warmer for a sore muscle or neck.

My only concern was putting a lot of blankets over it that the heat wouldn't get through, good to know it does. I wish I had one now, the weather here is abysmal. It freaking snowed today. Those snuggle sacks have been lifesavers for the crate. It's the one thing that really keeps her cozy and happy in there. Much better than blankets.
