Patella luxation and breeders

We didnt get a certificate as far as I know, they're my mums dogs so im not 100% sure but the vet does supply a letter for us saying they've been found clear of x,y,z. Thats what they do with the hemivertebra anyway.

The only problem I have with patella testing is that I don't want her being put under and they put them under for it that bothers me!!

They put them under for that? Wth...they are wide awake here.

Yup from what I've read they go nun nights which is why I'm dubious!! I wonder I'd because it's an xray ?

I had B's knees x-rayed when he was 6 months and they didn't put him under? Our exams are manual examination of the patella.

What I don't think people realize is YOU CAN LUXATE ANY DOGS KNEE if you push on it hard enough or long enough. There is an appropriate level of pressure it should stand up to and thats how they test it here at least.

I went with Rocky to a specialist who examined Rocky's PL via palpation. He also watched him walking. No X-rays needed (that was only done by my normal vet, who was not experienced with PL though). I think all specialist are able to examine PL via palpation only. I think to remember that X-rays are only done when a surgery is needed.

Both mine have been checked and are checked yearly both have 00 patellas however for breeding purposes a vet check is different to a test I think
