I don't think I've ever actually heard anyone use the term teacup, just seen it online.

Oh I have, plenty of people in the street think they own a teacup chihuahua. Someone asked about Feo and Eva, they said that Feodore is a "full chihuahua", and Eva is a "Teacup chihuahua" thats why she is smaller.
She came over to me to ask if Eva was a boy because she wantes to breed her bitch. She had her own "teacup chihuahua" apparently- and teacups should be bred because they are special.
She seemed really offended when I told her that there was no such thing as a teacup anything.
Everyone seems to want "miniature Yorkies" too nowadays. Stop inventing types of dogs that don't exist!!!

OMG I got this the other day at the dog show at work. A coworker (she's sort of dingy anyway) told me she used to have a Papion who weighed "a pound something". Then she's like, (and this was after I told her Lulu weighs almost 4lbs, when I was told her Papion was "a pound something") "Now she's *Lulu* not a teacup is she? She must be almost 3 pounds?". So I reply, "there IS no teacup...that is just a size term some people use to try to make more money off of their dogs...a marketing ploy. A Chihuahua is a Chihuahua...only one breed. Well there are two breeds...a long coat & short coat. And btw she is almost 4 pounds". The woman was like "almost 4 pounds?!". *sigh* Then I try to explain per standard Chi's can be between 2-6lbs (though I know they took out the 2lb thing). Sad part is I've had the teacup conversation with this same person in the past. LOL
