I feed a lot of grinds -- lol. I don't necessarily like it b'c there is not the same level of dental benefit, but, I do give RMB 3x a week if not more. But I have read that grinds are bad b'c their tummies don't have time to anticipate the food. I try to combat this by giving a little treat 10-15 minutes before meals and I figure that gets tummies producing acids and whatnot. Honestly I need to feed grinds often b'c of the convenience but I still feel its head and shoulders above any sort of kibble or even THK even though I like THK I'm just wondering what the raw gurus think of grinds as far as feeding goes. I also am planning to wean puppies onto grinds but need to do more research on that before I know exactly what I will do...

I wouldn't worry about anticipating food at all I slap mine out same as when I use just mince into a wider surface area so they have to work harder for it!! Tbh mine spend longer eating a grind than a boneless meal boneless goes down in seconds literally!! With puppies we can get a mix here that is just meat and bone so you'd have to add organ but it is v v v finely ground so it's literally a paste from that you can go onto a normal consistency and then bone meals... I have read to add unpasturised goats milk (nearest thing to bitches milk way better than whelpi and lactol YUCK!!) for the first few meals to make it gentler on their stomachs to digest! You need grow your pups with bones by billinghurst it's amazing u just ignore the veg bits LOL

I also am getting goats just for the milk for the puppies!

You're getting actual goats? Or milk lol
I would raw up the babies too I think if people know where to get the stuff from ad how cheap and easy it can be they will be open to it! I'd be so so pissed if someone bought a pup and put it on pedigree I'd go nuts

I think grinds definitely have their place.
The cons would be no dental benefits and a possible higher bacterial load. (Greater surface area on ground so more potential for pathogens). Grinds can have a higher than needed bone content and some contain veggies. You also have no control over the meat, fat content, etc. Some don't contain enough organs or just contain liver with no other organ.
The pros would be that they are easy! Convenient! Already balanced!
I think they definitely have their place. Raw purists frown on them, but in this day and age where everyone is busy - I think they are fine and I'm glad we have a variety to choose from.

Better than a bowl of pedigree scum!!!! oh gosh YES. Even a lower quality premade is going to be better than the kibbles out there. I would always choose foods with the least amount of processing.

Grinds are so cheap too I think that it's a good way for people who are too scared to do PMR because of the math involves and for the convenience to do raw! It actually works out cheaper than a 3* dry food
