Oh poor Leah, that's not nice for her at all. I would have totally freaked out too! I hope the vet is right and it's nothing to worry about and will heal soon. xxx

OMG that sounds awful. To be honest, I have never heard of that! I would INSIST on a skull x-ray so you can see what the heck is going on. If bone is displaced, that sounds like something that should be checked out, not just a 'wait and see' attitude. I wouldn't do surgery, etc. but I would want to KNOW what is going ON with the actual skull plates.

Tracy I'm going to have my regular vet do an xray today when I get her in. Basically the ER vet was like look if she's acting normally, there is no real swelling, blah blah blah, everything is just going to cost you 5x tonight as what it will tomorrow...so wait...
I woke up and checked on her a few times during the night and she's acting 100% fine, I now am wondering if it's a chip instead of an actual bit off of next to the soft spot, there is no swelling so whatever it is can't be huge but I'm really not happy this happened.
Sarah - you would be surprised how much stronger a 7 lb dog is than a 4 lb dog...people say I am crazy for worrying Laurel will hurt one of them and now I guess I have to worry Trigger will too. I don't think Trigger even realized Leah was there...he and Bryco just went from 0-60 in the blink of an eye and all of a sudden we heard Leah screaming and realized Trigger had her...ugh, it makes me feel sick. Will let you guys know what the vet says.

So Trigger latched onto her head? Like her head was in his mouth? OMG. Do they often get into fights where they are actually hurting each other and you have to break it up? That's what was happening at Piper's breeders house with two boys she had. She had to keep them totally separated or they would try and kill each other. Seriously. It wasn't any kind of 'play'. Yeah, let us know what your regular vet says to do. I wouldn't do the ER vet either unless there was swelling or neuro changes. Sounds like you had a VERY close call.

There was a small swollen spot about the size of a dime last night but it went down within an hour or so...whatever loose piece there was last night seems to have settled? The vet said that if it was a fracture or something of that sort he really did not think she'd be acting fine but they walk around w/ a hole in the top of their head their whole life...? Her soft spot feels the same size now that I am not freaking out so I am thinking it might have been a chip off of somewhere else? Can skulls really chip that easily?? UGH...
Tracy they don't ever actually REALLY fight, at all. They've never been in a fight, per se. Just a lot of growling and acting tough, and it's not every day they act like that. I would guess Trigger was going for air and came up w/ something in his jaws and decided to go w/ it. UGH....hubby is an idiot of leaving them in the same space though. We usually just move one away and they pretty much dont' even argue but he was letting them both hang out there and there were several bully sticks.

You are so equipped to handle this. I would be freaked completely out!! So glad she seems to have managed just fine since the incident.
Hope and Eden still have nice sized spots and it worries me. They run and sometimes someone hits a piece of furniture and I panic. I also worry that Hope, getting close to 18 months, may always have a bit of one. Hers was enormous when we got her (larger than a quarter) and now is about dime sized and that is too big still for my taste.
