That is so great!! I know Prey Model Raw is very best but I feel so great feeding ZP. My girls absolutely adore it! I read of an owner say she did not like the smell so she did not feed it to her dog but when the dogs are "voting", every one I have encountered LOVED it! I do add water. It slows them down and helps them feel more full. Most people say the amount of ZP fed looks like very little food. Mine that gets the most gets a bit less than 1/4 cup, 2x/day. Are you feeding by ZP's guidelines or by measurement of their previous food? Here is a link to ZP's feeding calculator just to give you a place to start in case you have not seen it. Soon, you will feed by body condition (although with those unbelievably lush coats I do not know how you can even see a body!! haha!): www.ziwipeak.com/pet-centre/feeding-calculator/

Oh! If you have not ever ordered from Wag.com, as a first time customer, you can get a good amount off your first order. Here are some codes: www.retailmenot.com/view/wag.comI see there is one for 25% off your first order. WAGNY25 is the code if you do not wish to click through. It does not expire until the end of June. Also, they offer free 2 day delivery with orders of $49+. A 2.2 pound bag lasts us about 10 days. I am feeding a combined weight of 11.5 lbs. We also sometimes use torn pieces of ZP for training and when they go to "their room". I am telling you, this stuff motivates them. A shelter I sent a bag emailed me back and asked what "kind of doggy crack" I sent. They had to place it in an upper cabinet because the dogs kept scratching the cabinet that they put it in. They professed they had never seen them do that before. Since it is not super well known they wanted to know more about it. I feel like a Ziwipeak Evangelist!

Here are the "facts" on our feeding plan: I am feeding them based on kcals per day. Our Vet recommended 150 calories (average) for a 6lb dog. Jerry is very active and needs about 180 to maintain his healthy weight. Tabitha needs about 140 to maintain her 5lb 5 oz "bathing suit weight" She has been a bit more active lately so I am taking that into consideration. I use a very accurate kitchen scale and I have always weighed every meal for them. I'm very strict about their eating habits. Using the ZiwiPeak calculator 1.1 ounces per day will net 185 kcal for Jerry. That gives him a meal of .6 ounces for breakfast and .5 for dinner. I try to front-load their calories into breakfast for daytime energy. Tabitha will get .5 ounces for breakfast and .4 for dinner. I'm dropping the "cookies" and going to give bully sticks at treat time. That puts our food consumption at a total of 2 ounces per day for about 12 lbs of body weight. A 2.2 lb bag is 35.2 ounces and should last 17 days at a cost of $1.58 a day for T&J. Royal Canin was costing $25 a month to feed them. ZiwiPeak will be about $48. So far, I am convinced the change is worth it... Tomorrow I will weigh them in at the Vet. Then again in a month to see how they are doing. They were overweight at age two and I don't want to see a repeat of that. It took a lot of determination (and green beans) to get them back to healthy. forgot to mention... At our house, we don't call it ZiwiPeak, we call it "toast"

Great job Therese. I wish all pet owners were as dedicated as you are! Karen, you DO sound like an ambassador for ZP! I love reading your posts about the great success you have had. Excellent! My parents were here for the weekend and brought their two dogs. I always give them treats of ZP when they are here and they go NUTS for it. Yesterday my mom says to the dogs "time to eat!" and they both RAN OVER TO ME. HA HA HA. They know who has the good stuff. LOL!

Therese, you are brilliant!
They tease me about the feeding calculator, calories per scoop and the like. Compared to you, I am a slacker. You are like a scientist!
I need a kitchen scale!!
You know, I do not know what I would do if Kristi, Heather and Tracy had not helped me over and over with food. Since two of them had little ones doing well on ZP, who had previously has sensitive tummies, I took their advice and gave it a go.
It has been about a year and I have never looked back. I sure hope your beauties continue doing well on it!!

Question: Should I, or should I not need to give a Hip/joint supplement for Tabi? I was giving her one Old Mother Hubbard Hip and Joint cookie per day. I don't want to continue with it because of the 23 extra calories per day; and, it's a lot of wheat and oatmeal etc. But, she was getting 750 mg Glucosamine and 250 mg Chondroitin per biscuit. The ZiwiPeak says it has some Glu. and Chon. in it--but I don't know how much. So, does she need a supplement? or not?
