Yesterday when heidi got in from the garden she started what I think was reverse sneezing, it went on and off for about 10 minutes the usual stuff (blocking nostrils, rubbing throat, distracting with treats) wasn't working. She kept having little outbursts of reverse sneezing throughout the evening and during her walk. I thought i'd give it till the morning and see how she is, she was fine while she was sleeping but as soon as she woke up it started again so I think i'll ring the vets when they open but has anyone got any ideas? Someone said she could have a blade of grass or something stuck as she does tend to eat grass when she goes in the garden but she has been eating and drinking fine. She very rarely does reverse sneezing and when she does it stops as soon as I cover her nose and then it doesn't happen again for a few weeks but this is like a slower version of reverse sneezing that has been happening on and off for about 16 hours now

Hello Lula does this reverse sneezing when she gets excited, for about a minute and usually stops easily. Unfortunately, one time she did it for about 10 minutes. Like you, nothing i did would stop it. She continued on and off for an hour or so and so i popped her to the vet.
He told me she probably had something that irritated her in her throat and because she had continued to reverse sneeze, she had irritated the lining more and more and this had caused inflamation of the throat lining. This then meant she couldn't stop. The vet gave her an anti-inflammatory injection and she was fine again. Big worry as its horirible to see.
They may give your little one a course of anti-biotics to make sure no infection happens / spreads.
good luck xxx

I was going to say maybe hayfever but seeing as you said she likes to eat grass, I think perhaps it could be that she has something stuck. Either way, hopefully the vet will be able to tell you whats going on and hopefully sort it out today! Please keep us updated

Thanks for the replies. Im pretty convinced now that she may have something stuck but she is a lot worse this morning than she was yesterday she can barely even move without setting it off. Going to ring vets now, got to try and sort out a lift there too because my cars off road grr. Im worried about how they will check whats down her throat. Her sons got to go back to the vet today too bless him hes got a bad eye infection had a very high temp and they think he possibly has bronchitis! Will let u know how we get on hopefully I can get her in asap
