Not much use for me, Logan doesnt seem to be on there at all!
Just looked at my basenji though, breed average is 2.7% and she is 12.5%!! That is bad!

Tbh I find it all confusing I put a few hypothetical matings in know they were closely related
And her uncle (mums litter mate) didn't come up too high :s little confused lol 15% :s I expected it to be higher
And then I put another dog in who's sire is lotus' gt grandad and it only came out at 4.1% :s

Sarah, if they are related through a common ancestor, but that ancesor itself had a low co-efficient, and the rest of the dogs in the hypothetical dam and sires pedigree were unrelated and had low coeficient themselves, then the hypothetical puppies will have a low co-efficient, even though the parents are still related. The breed co-efficient for English Toys is 13.8 it's terrible. They are seriously genetically compromised, and they face extinction which is very sad. There is just no way around it in that breed though, there just aren't enough dogs left.

That's the good thing about long coats - at least there are plenty to choose from!! Trouble is you may not always like them. I think it may make a bit of difference as it has made me think twice about future matings. Just wish we knew more about health problems in ancestry to do a better job. Was talking to a very long time breeder in the ring yestetrday who was saying often the faults will skip a generation so we have to be so careful.............wonder if the KC will refuse to register puppies with high inbreeding co-efficients in the future??

Nothing over 25% will be registered from what I've read still the same brother sister/father daughter matings not allowed
That's the thing thought you want to improve on faults and a lot of the dogs look the same and not many people arent that honest about their dogs faults!! Then you have to take into consideration the pedigrees and how much line breeding you want to do.. The mind boggles
Look at VHC in limit dog Clear luxating patella the dog needs to be neutered and she's breeding him it's awful!!

That's terrible peole breeding dogs with lp. I think testing should be compulsory, it might cost a load of money for the breeders, and more to buy puppies as well, but if it is allowed to spred through the breed it will bring a hell of a lot more expensive problems for everyone in the future.

Just out of interest I checked Harry and he comes up at 1.3%. I think it's interesting, but I agree with Hollie that some breeders will just go ahead anyway. I've met one or two who think they know more than the KC about breeding... full stop. I just wish that the KC would/could have more control over breeding practices. I can't believe they don't even list any recommended health checks for Chis... how insane is that, given the probs that can occur?!

I checked Alfie (just out of interest) and he comes up as 2.3%. I'm not really much the wiser apart from it tells me that the breed average is 4.4%, and I gather from what you're all saying that the lower the better, so I'm assuming his is decent enough?
