Having a problem with Roo that started late yesterday afternoon. She's been yelping in pain and it seems to happen the most when I pick her up with my hands around her chest. This started yesterday and it was obvious she wasn't herself as she was walking slow and acting like she didn't feel well. She doesn't react in pain when you touch her any particular place, it's only when she is actually lifted or sometimes when she tries to turn a certain way herself. She woke up this morning yelping. I had to calm her down. Last night it seemed to pass and she was acting fine, even running a bit at one point. I have an appointment with the vet today at 2:45. I was just wondering what you all though it might be? Do you think it's a simple sprain, maybe her back or something? What other options might it be?

Thanks hun. I know, she really has been through enough. She hasn't really eaten anything different, no. The pain seems to be associated with when she is moved a certain way. They told me the vet may be able to tell just by manipulating and observing her what it is, if not, they'll take an xray. It's scary to hear her yelp like that as she really is a pretty tough little girl so she's definitely in some real pain.

oh goodness. If I had to guess, I'd say it's her back. She's acting just like I've seen dogs act when they have a pinched nerve or a disc problem. Hopefully your vet can get her diagnosed and on the road to recovery. My guess is some pain meds, crate rest, and steroids should set her right again.

I think Tracey might be right on, Laurel has an issue that flares up when its cold and suddenly you can't touch her without her screaming, and just walking around she will scream. Once it settles she is fine though, it's been months since her last bout of it. They give her a steroid for when it acts up, we don't even have to get it checked anymore unless we feel its worse or needs more attention.
I can't believe poor Miss Roo is dealing w/ more, let us know what the vets say. I hope its nothing serious, poor sweet girl.
