Hmm--- Does anyone know of retained baby teeth makes dogs want to chew more? Penny had all of hers pulled, but Lion never did. He still chews on my furniture and baseboards, while Penny quit doing it as she got older. I wonder if he has any teeth still in there that are bothering him? I had no idea that it is so common for chis to lose their teeth, as you guys have said. How sad!

Question: In the case of a loose incisor tooth like what was mentioned, is this something that comes out on it's own or do you need to have the tooth pulled? (First time Chihuahua owner here As long as the tooth is not bothering them there is no need to have it removed. My chi still has the loose incisor and it still appears to be a healthy tooth in healthy gum, so we aren't worrying about it.

I don't have a clue Missy - I would think that the extra teeth could definitely cause pressure in their mouth that could be uncomfortable?

Thanks, I think I read somewhere that destructive chewing past the teething stage can be caused by retained teeth but idk, I can't seem to find it now.
