I'd love to know about the beet pulp too
Orijen and applaws give Pixel absolutely uncontrolable tear staining and everyone comments that she must have something wrongwith her eye it's so extreme. I am hopingthat she suits raw which I am starting today because it seems that she doesn't get on with hardly any food.
Wet food - she did get on just fine with Hilife premier - it had tapioca as the filler in it and for some reason that one didn't upset her at all. Not the best in terms of nutrition I suppose but it worked beautifully for her and Rez and if raw doesn't work out that's what she's going back on.

Oh and I LOVE applaws for training Rez, it's a perfect size for him, smaller than Orijen, good ingredients (aside from the beet pulp??) and doesn't give him any staining at all.
Its a good kibble

Beet pulp is like pulp from a beet root I think obv they are purple!!! Louise it would worry me what's in royal canin Maltese if it clears staining I don't like RC at all I think it's an awful food, the ingredients are so bad yes it's better than some but not good enough. Some dogs just get tear stains. For a pet unless they were severe I wouldn't care. I used angel eyes on both lotus and leilani to clear theirs. Lotus got from teething and they were appalling. Now she has none and I don't use angel eyes on her anymore. Leilani is White/cream and had them when I got her 6 weeks ago she doesn't have them anymore so is on maintenance. Diet does help yes but it won't always clear them some have runny eyes some are a medical issue to do with their tear ducts and excess tearing it's just one of those things I researched into everything. Daisy doesn't have any

RC Maltese doesnt list beet pulp as an ingredient, but RC Chihuahua does contain beet pulp wonder why they do that
