What's your opinion on them? Do yours have them??
I hate them, they are the Bain of my life, both girls have them (don't think it's the done thing here for breeders to remove them at birth but I could be wrong). Doing the nails are fiddly neither of them are best impressed by it!!!
So yeah pffft

As you know, mine have theirs, I HATE them, especially when it comes to cutting/grinding because they're so awkward to get to. I used to be on another forum and there was a UK breeder who had all her pugs dewclaws removed shortly after birth.

A lot of vets won't do it now it has to be done when they're like 3days old it's a little brutal I thinn as they remove the whole thumb!

All of mine have them & while they take a specific technique to trim them easily--I don't find them too bothersome myself. Just takes a few extra seconds to trim is all. I looked into & considered removing Mari's pups dews but I personally feel it's just a cosmetic thing like ear cropping & tail docking. If they catch or cause other problems (not related to being lazy & not trimming them LOL) I can totally understand having them removed at neutering/spaying or what not. But I personally don't find it necessary. Saying that--I'm not strongly against it. I'd purchase a pup from a breeder who does remove them. Just not something I'd personally do unless medically necessary. Reminds me of my moms dog (beagle/sheltie mix) as a kid. She never trimmed her nails & eventually her dews curled over & grew into themselves. **wanted to add that I have no problem with ear cropping & tail docking when that is what the breed standard calls for. I know certain breeds are cropped/docked for certain reasons other than just cosmetic.

Yep thats why this breeder had her pug puppy's removed, because they have quite prominent eyes and the risk of scratching etc.
I don't think its common practice anymore though.
